Keeping the handover organised
Check cupboards and storage areas before finalising the inventory for a move. Agree which furniture stays with the property and keep it separate. Include the preferred date, but treat it as a request until availability is confirmed.
Furniture on different floors
Describe the floor for each large item and whether a lift is available. Mention narrow turns or pieces needing dismantling. For a garden or garage pile, include a separate image and list rather than relying on indoor photographs.
Distinguish clearance from items included in a handover
Before a Shortlands sale or tenancy handover, agree what the next occupier is expecting to remain. Keep those items off the rubbish list, even if they are no longer useful to you. Check garden storage as well as indoor rooms where ownership or expectations may be less obvious. A clearance request should reflect the agreed handover position, not a last-minute assumption that every remaining object can be taken away.
Avoid gaps in the final room check
After packing, check drawers, under-bed storage and cupboards for items missed from the first list. Describe newly discovered rubbish before collection is arranged rather than adding it silently. If large furniture is on more than one floor, note each location separately. Explain when keys will change hands and who can provide access in the meantime, so the proposed collection window fits the actual arrangements at the property.
